Fragile lives

Born to die the next day
A fleeting amount of time
Their first dance, their final dance
Mayflies only have 24 hours

Some may call them lazy
Yet a colony can’t exist without them
A transitory existence
Drone ants have 3 weeks

Spot the colours of the rainbow
Now you see him, now you don’t
Dying before the birth of their offspring
Panther chameleons have just a year

Being surrounded by many fragile lives
We laugh and we cry
But do we treasure our moments like them?
Some humans have 70+ years
