Dear lord, when I get to heaven
Please let me bring my man
When he comes tell me that you’ll let him in
Father tell me if you can
Oh that grace, oh that body
Oh that face makes me wanna party
He’s my sun, he makes me shine like diamonds– Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey
It had happened too quickly. One second they were driving along a 120km/hr highway; next second a truck had shoved them out of the way, their car spinning out of control. He tried desperately to gain control of the vehicle; she tried desperately to keep her emotions in check.
They were still young. They were, after all, newly wed, heading to a faraway fantasy-like cottage for their honeymoon. A relaxing trip tucked in the woods, sitting in a bed of roses and enjoying a good book, picking cherries and pears. They still had so many more memories to make together. She could not see it ending just like that. She had daydreamed of days when she would share his silly jokes with their children, when she would give away the little toys he had wooed her with to their grandchildren.
His smile, his laugh; would anyone remember other than her? His selflessness, his generosity; she would love to shout to the world about. But she wouldn’t have a chance now, would she? Feeling her lifeforce leaving her slowing but surely, she wondered if she would be cruel to hope to see him again soon.
In heaven, she crossed her fingers.

There is some quirk in me that delights in a beautiful unhappy ending. I love the line, In heaven, she crossed her fingers. x

Sad Cherry. It seems life had really only started for her and her new husband and now they face the pearly gates. Good job conveying those last panicked thoughts.

That’s delightful ambiguity at the end, and you picked up on some of the lyrics that had passed me by. Another piece in an unexpected direction, and as before you pulled it off excellently.
Best wishes, Matt
